Set in the heart of Wilmington, Delaware, Hotel DuPont brings vintage grandeur and old-world charm to modern wedding celebrations. Since 1913, this historic hotel has drawn couples from across the Tri-State area with its sweeping ballrooms, intricate detailing, and timeless atmosphere. Weddings here feel cinematic, and every corner offers something textured and romantic.
The du Barry Room is a favorite for its intimate elegance, featuring white columns, warm parquet floors, and a crystal chandelier with a story of its own. The space is ideal for smaller ceremonies or cocktail receptions where every detail feels personal. For larger celebrations, the Gold Ballroom makes a bold impression. Its French Neoclassical architecture, gold-leaf rosettes, and ornate bas-reliefs of legendary women like Helen of Troy and Cleopatra bring a sense of drama and celebration that’s rare to find.
With space for up to 300 guests, it’s a setting that calls for statement entrances, joyful gatherings, and unforgettable photos. Whether you’re drawn to the romance of the du Barry Room or the grandeur of the Gold Ballroom, Hotel DuPont offers a refined backdrop for couples who appreciate historic detail and classic celebration.
From a photographer’s perspective, the textures, symmetry, and lighting possibilities are exceptional. This is a venue where timeless images are practically built in.
We love the history of this hotel, its décor and its grand ballroom. Presidents and world leaders have stayed here. It reminds me of Paris or a room at Versailles….elegant and timeless! There are locations in and around the hotel that will work well for photos, as well as some scenic parks and gardens that are within a 10-minute drive. Take some time to research the area as this part of northern Delaware has plenty to offer. And if you can create enough space in your wedding day timeline, the beauty of Longwood Gardens is only 25 minutes from the venue.

Tamara fell for Andrew’s genuine and caring nature, his openness …

The year 2019 ended with a Hotel DuPont NYE Wedding that was an absolute banger!! And once again, this was an awesome couple that was brought together via online dating.
