Addison St. Philly E-Session |Jenn & Mike
Before their Addison St. Philly e-session, Jenn and Mike first met during their psychiatry rotation at Temple-Episcopal Hospital as medical students. After the rotation ended, they kept in touch. And began dating a few months later. Their first date was at Nam Phuong restaurant, a classic Vietnamese restaurant on Washington Avenue. From that moment, they have been together since January 2016.
This charming couple had a shared interest in cooking, traveling, and exploring the local Philly dining scene. They love to cook Asian cuisine at home, such as dan dan noodles, Japanese curry, Korean soondubu, and dumplings. Every year they make it their itinerary to travel to the Adirondacks region to hike and cook around the campfire. And their most recent trips include LA, Chicago, SF, New York, and DC.
Having a lot of similar values and goals that extend across their careers and personal lives makes their relationship work well together. They both went to the same medical school and are doctors. Also, they understand what each person experiences at work, even though they are in different subspecialties. Jenn is a child and adolescent psychiatrist, while Mike is a cardiologist.
The proposal took place in Baltimore, MD, at the Federal Hill Park. Jenn thought she was coming to her friend’s housewarming brunch near Philadelphia that weekend. While Mike would be on call in the hospital. In reality, he planned to propose on top of the Rocky steps in front of the Art Museum.
However, Jenn’s car was unexpectedly hit while parked. So, she canceled her travel plans to bring the car into the shop. On the other hand, Mike called in an emergency change of plans and traveled to Baltimore with his and Jenn’s sister.
Jenn’s sister Michelle convinced her to dress up. And also, to get their nails done that morning before going on a walk to Federal Hill Park. She was surprised when Mike popped out from behind a statue in the park. He dropped down on one knee despite the suspicious signs.
Mike picked Federal Hill Park for the proposal’s location because of its view of the Baltimore Inner Harbor. The original location was the Rocky Steps in front of the art museum. It would have been an iconic area in Philly where they’ve been on multiple bike rides and other occasions.
Here are some favorites from their Addison St. Philly e-session beautifully captured by Ralph Deal Photography.Jenn and Mike are every bit as easy going and friendly as they look in these images. I had a great time chatting with them as we strolled around the neighborhood. Looking forward to their wedding!!

“I decided to hire Ralph for one of the most important days of my life because I saw the beautiful pictures on the Philadelphia Magazine he took of a couple and I knew from there that he had to be our wedding photographer .And then when my husband and I met him we were 100% sure that he was going to be our wedding photographer. We left with the sense that he was going to be able to capture our day as we always pictured.
There are so many qualities that Ralph has that many other photographer that I came across lack and one of them is the excitement he has to get to know the couple explain the process and make good suggestions for the big day !! I can’t say enough positives things about Ralph and his crew they are so professional and know very well what they are doing. He captured the most beautiful moments of our wedding day and we have now the most amazing pictures.
