Right in the heart of Center City is the popular neighborhood gem, Rittenhouse Square. It’s location is hard to beat as some of the city’s best restaurants, hotels, historic landmarks and wedding venues are within walking distance of the park. It can be extremely crowded just about any day of the week but it’s definitely worth considering for its natural beauty and location.
This public park in Center City, Philadelphia, as well as the nearby neighborhood is known as Rittenhouse. It is one of William Penn’s and his surveyor Thomas Holme’s original five open-space parks, which were planned in the late 17th century.
The area is one of the highest-income urban areas in the United States. The Rittenhouse-Fitler Historic District encompasses the Rittenhouse area as well as Fitler Square.
The park is roughly two short blocks on each side, with 18th Roadway to the east, and Walnut St. to the north.
