A Storybook Winterthur Shoot for Deanna & Isreal

Deanna and Isreal’s story began in high school through a mutual friend, though timing pulled them in different directions before anything had the chance to grow. Deanna soon left for college in New York City, and their connection became one of those early-life moments that stayed in the background until the right time brought it forward again.

Years later, their paths crossed in a more unexpected setting. Deanna was performing in Xanadu when Isreal saw the theatre on her story and reached out to say he would come watch the show. She had almost forgotten he lived nearby in Hammonton, but he followed through. On opening night, when Deanna stepped in for a sick actor, Isreal and his mom were sitting in the audience. One week later, they went on their first date.

More than four years later, Deanna and Isreal have built a relationship rooted in humour, presence, and steady support. They love seeing Broadway shows, watching comedy and horror movies, and spending time thrifting together. Their days work because they listen to each other closely and keep their relationship lighthearted without losing the care that keeps them grounded.

Their at-home proposal remains one of the most personal parts of their story. Each year, they create a physical photo book of memories, and Isreal used those books to lead Deanna through rose petals and candlelight before asking the question in their first home together. She was completely surprised, purple sweatsuit and all.

This styled Winterthur shoot was not just about the location or the editorial concept. It worked because Deanna and Isreal brought their own history into the frame, turning a creative session into a set of images shaped by real affection, shared humour, and the kind of ease that cannot be forced.
