Nemours Estate Engagement Photoshoot | Alexandra & Michael

Alexandra and Mike’s story began around 2010 at Penn State University, while they were playing together in the Blue Band. Mike played baritone in the row beside Elizabeth, who played tenor saxophone, and during college they briefly dated before going their separate ways. Alexandra jokes that they “weren’t fully cooked yet,” though Mike’s thoughtful gestures, including sending a dozen roses to her parents’ home, left a lasting impression. Years later, they unexpectedly reconnected through online dating while both living in Delaware, proving that timing can change everything.

Together, they built a relationship grounded in family, humor, and shared traditions. They love spending weekends in Maryland and Baltimore, enjoying live music, football games, dinners with family, and quiet moments at home with Jay, Mike’s adopted black lab. Alexandra loves gardening while Mike enjoys taking on home projects, creating a partnership that feels balanced, supportive, and deeply comfortable. Elizabeth says Mike allows her to let go, relax, and simply enjoy life together.

The Proposal

Mike proposed on Christmas morning in Salzburg beside the lake at the famous Sound of Music mansion after a snowy holiday trip with family. As they walked the grounds on the first clear morning of the trip, Mike apologized for taking her away from home for Christmas and said he hoped they would spend many more Christmases together. He then got down on one knee and proposed beside the frozen lake with the mountains in the distance. The location held special meaning for Alexandra, whose father loved The Sound of Music and used to sing “Edelweiss” to her as a baby, making the moment feel even more memorable and personal.
